Jim’s enthusiasm for sailing began 40 years ago racing Hobie Cat 18’s. This soon developed into bluewater cruising adventures throughout the West Indies, the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys. A licensed Captain since ’84, his sailing experiences along with a diverse professional background have resulted in a well-rounded knowledge of yacht systems, performance standards, and excellent customer service. Jim is also a former client of ours (3 times) and enjoys racing and cruising on his Beneteaus. He offers a focus on detail and excellent follow-up to provide a positive experience with your yacht purchase process.
Michelle Ropiza - Office: Ft Lauderdale (FL), USA
Michelle is a Florida native, spending most of her life living, working, or playing on the water. She has logged over 50,000 NM of offshore sea time to date. Her knowledge spans extensively throughout the entire Caribbean basin with the Virgin Islands and Bahamas as her specialty. Successfully and safely sailing her Beneteau 350 through the center of an unpredicted tropical storm is one of her proudest moments. Michelle also is an avid scuba diver, kite surfer, and a holds a student pilots license, learning on a Cessna 172. She’s an adventure seeker at heart. Her number one goal as a yacht broker is to provide the ultimate customer satisfaction throughout the purchase process and beyond.
Bill Regan - Office: Clearwater (FL), USA
Bill is originally from New York but quickly developed a passion for sailing during his first visit to the Caribbean over a decade ago. Throwing off the shackles of winter he moved to the Florida Keys and began work as a yacht broker and Boat Captain. Bill holds a 100 Ton Masters license with sailing endorsement and is also a PADI Divemaster. In 2014 he and his wife took an extended cruise along the East Coast and through the Bahamas. Other sailing highlights include delivery work from Florida to the Virgin Islands, to Panama and through the canal. Bill’s passion for the cruising lifestyle is palpable and he loves helping others achieve their boating dreams.
Richard Vass - Office: Tortola, BVI
Richard Vass first moved to the British Virgin Islands more than a decade ago, working for both Sunsail and The Moorings during this time. Richard’s family are keen sailors and his introduction to yachts began at an early age. Drawing on his knowledge of charter yachts, passion for sailing, and his local knowledge, you’ll find Richard a friendly chap who is happy to explain the brokerage process as well as help you find your dream yacht.
Giles Wood - Office: Tortola, BVI
Giles’ first memory of sailing was sitting on the bow of a dinghy when he was 4, while he sailed around the bay with his Dad. He has been sailing ever since. After studying engineering at university he worked as a sales manager selling classic and sports cars. He cast off his lines 5 years ago and returned to the water. Now a Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor, he has been around the world skippering, racing and teaching and brings his enthusiasm for sailing to the brokerage.
Gwen Robic - Office: St. Martin
Gwen Robic studied Marine and Environmental Science with Sports Management in France, before travelling to Australia to improve her English skills. Back in Europe, she was a sailing instructor for a well-known travel firm in the Med and also Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. She furthered her marine industry experience by working for a major sailboat manufacturer in France followed by a yacht charter company in Saint Martin, Caribbean. With Gwen’s vast yachting knowledge from the manufacturing and charter side, she will lend value to any deal with her customer dedication and product knowledge.
Gavin Walrond - Office: Southampton, UK
Born in South Africa, raised in UK from his early teens, his love of sailing stems from time spent on the Vaal Dam. Gavin graduated from the University Of Leicester and then joined the Graduate Sailing Programme at the United Kingdom Sailing Academy (UKSA). He worked as a professional deck hand, working on 65′ Catamarans in the Cayman Islands. In 2002 he joined the operations team at Port Solent and has skippered in corporate events. In 2004 he moved from operations to Brokerage.
Florentin Le Noxaic - Office: Athens, Greece
Florentin was born in Lorient, Brittany, the land of sailboat racing, and attended the INB (Brittany Boat Business School in Concarneau), where he gained his knowledge about boating and yacht sales. After that, he traveled all around Europe with his sailboat and his bike. Florentin joined the company in 2012 as an Engineer and Skipper in Croatia, then joined the Brokerage team and moved to Greece in 2013.
Daniela Jerkovic - Office: Croatia
Daniela was born and raised in Croatia and has been around boats and the sea her whole life. She studied at the College of Maritime Studies in Split, and has worked for Sunsail since 2003 in various positions from Purchasing and Logistics Manager to Customer Service and Base Manager. She began her current role as a Yacht Broker in 2015.
Patrick O'Reilly – Region: North America, South America, and Australia
Patrick’s childhood summers were spent sailing the coast of Maine with his father on their Lightning. It was there that his interest for sailing began. Over the next 25 years he developed a passion, not just for sailing, but also for racing. Most of his time was spent cruising/racing in Galveston Bay. However, some of his favorite sailing destinations are the British Virgin Islands, Belize, and Cyclades in Greece. Finally able to mesh his sales career with his passion for sailing, Patrick has been with The Moorings Yacht Brokerage since 2013.
Cyril Lelièvre – Region: Europe, Asia and Africa
Cyril Lelievre has been sailing since his youth and his experience spans from skipper to teacher to racer. With an early career in the biggest shipyards of France, Cyril has been in the yacht brokerage business for nearly 20 years. Cyril opened The Moorings/Sunsail Brokerage office in Nice, France in 1999 and still manages that office today.
